Wantage Town have made a double swoop in a bid to move away from the lower reaches of Evo-Stik Southern League Division 1 South & West.

New manager Daniel Barry has signed central midfielder Adam Doyle from Abingdon United, and winger Nick Thorne from Old Woodstock Town.

The pair are set to make their debuts at high-riding Larkhall Athletic tomorrow in what is a meeting of last season’s Hellenic League and Western League champions.

Barry said of Doyle: “He is always looking to get on the ball and is a great passer. He will be a great asset.”

And he added of Thorne: “He is a great dribbler of the ball and adds another attacking threat to our squad with a great eye for goal.”

George Reid returns from suspension and Karl Roberts is also back, but Adam Lovegrove and Mark Janes miss the trip.

Centre back Zak Westlake misses North Leigh’s trip to Bridgwater due to a one-game suspension.

However, Andy Gunn is back from an ankle ligament injury to take his place.

Striker Morgan Williams returns from suspension and Brian Bowles comes into the squad, but Elliott Osborne-Ricketts and Kieran Sanders are still serving bans.

George Seacole, Zak Eadle and Ben Hutter will play for North Leigh United at Thame United in the Oxfordshire Senior Cup.

Manager Mark Gee believes North Leigh will have to adapt their style tomorrow.

“The heavier grounds from November to January tend to play to their style, and we may have to be more direct,” he explained.

Meanwhile, Gee said that Didcot Town had put in a seven-day approach for Matt Woodley, but the Railwaymen’s joint-manager Ian Concannon denied any knowledge of this.
