Ardley United’s hopes of a big run in the FA Vase were dashed with a shock 2-1 defeat at home to Western League Division 1 strugglers Chippenham Park in the first round.

The hosts fell behind in the 23rd minute when Mark Robinson headed home Jordan Coulter’s cross to the far post.

But Ardley were level six minutes later with Joe Eyre shooting home from 18 yards.

However, Chippenham grabbed what proved to be the winner after 67 minutes when George Nash crashed a shot in off the underside of the crossbar.
