Oxford City boss Justin Merritt admitted his side are in a slump as they fell to a fourth consecutive defeat at North Ferriby United  in Vanarama Conference North on Saturday, writes MATTHEW BRUCE.

Despite leading 3-1 at half-time City collapsed to a 4-3 defeat, with Merritt acknowledging that confidence is low.

He said: “At the moment when we concede a goal we’re so down about it, so psychologically that’s something that we’ve got to address.

“At critical times in the game we’ve been found wanting a little.”

However, Merritt remains confident City can recover the impressive form which saw them rise as high as third in the Vanarama Conference North table.

“A few weeks ago we had the chance of going second and now we’re on the back of four straight defeats,” he added.

“I’m looking analytically at what we’re doing as coaches and players and looking at what we can do to change it.

“We’ve got to draw some positives from it, but we are in a tough run at the minute.”
