Didcot Town’s 18-goal striker John Mills has rejected a move to an unnamed Vanarama Conference club.

Last month, a Conference North team and a Conference South outfit took an interest in the hot-shot, but Didcot’s joint boss Ian Concannon said Mills turned them down.

“He’s not going to any of those clubs,” said Concannon.

“One did follow up their interest, but Millsy has decided to stay and hopefully that’s the end of the matter.”

Didcot have taken 11 points from five away games and Concannon wants a similar home record, starting with tomorrow’s visit of Yate Town as they look to stretch their unbeaten run in Division 1 South & West to seven matches.

“I want to make Loop Meadow Stadium into a fortress,” he added.

Wantage Town could give a debut to Ben Brown away to fellow-strugglers Bashley.

Boss Gary Ackling said the centre back, who was on the books of QPR, will start if the paperwork is completed on his loan from Oxford City in time.

“He has played at a decent level and can add experience and quality,” added Ackling.

Ackling added: “People are talking about Saturday’s game being a relegation battle, but I think it’s too early for that.

“But if we don’t get three points the pressure will build on us and the team.

“It’s our most important game of the season.”

Ackling could bring Stuart Cattell straight back after he returned from a three-week holiday in Australia.

Adam Lovegrove is a doubt after suffering a neck injury in Tuesday’s 3-1 defeat to Shortwood, while Sam Elkins completes a three-match suspension.
