Two goals from Kieran Davis and an Anaclet Odhiambo penalty saw Abingdon United see off their Hellenic League derby rivals Milton 3-0 in the FA Cup at Northcourt Road.

The visitors, who had a great run through to this stage, had their first only effort on target when Tom Austin’s eighth-minute free-kick was tipped round a post by Jamie Zoldan in the Abingdon goal.

The hosts took the lead in the 17th minute when Brad Chalmers clipped Davis in the penalty area, and Odhiambo sent keeper Craig Griffiths the wrong way from the penalty spot.

The lead was doubled on 35 minutes when the ball was cleared to the unmarked Davis on the edge of the box and he curled into the right hand corner.

Milton made a double substitution and changed formation at half time with Ben Taylor and Sean Webb coming on.

Milton did improve but never really troubled the Abingdon defence.

Their fate was sealed in the 75th minute when Abingdon Zoldan came to the edge of the box and was only able to head the ball into the air.

And as Milton striker Rob Joyce chased the loose ball, the falling keeper appeared to drag the Milton forward to the floor.

No penalty was given and Joyce was shown the red card for an apparent stamp.

Against ten men, Abingdon continued to control the game.

With eight minutes remaining, Davis was put clear and he rolled the ball past Griffiths to wrap up the victory.
