Didcot Tn 3, Cirencester Tn 2

Didcot Town scored twice in the last ten minutes to snatch a dramatic victory over second-placed Cirencester on Saturday.

It was in-form Didcot’s third home win in a row and their sixth Calor League Division 1 South & West success in the last nine games.

Cirencester took the lead after 17 minutes when the unmarked Steve Davies tapped in from close range after good work on the ball by Aiden Bennett.

The hosts soon equalised when Josh Dutton-Black’s excellent defence-splitting pass allowed John Mills to scamper clear to easily beat keeper Glyn Garner for his ninth goal in the last 12 games.

Cirencester regained the lead shortly after half-time when Davies took advantage of poor marking to net his second past helpless keeper James Foster.

In the last ten minutes, Didcot pressed forward and levelled again.

Dutton-Black was shoved to the ground just outside the area, and Matt Woodley crashed the resultant free-kick into the bottom corner.

Jack Longford came within inches of scoring and the impetus was with Didcot.

Seconds from the end of normal time, they grabbed the winner.

Substitute Pablo Haysham made inroads down Cirencester’s left and delivered an inch-perfect cross that marauding central defender Luke Carnell converted with a thumping header beyond Garner.

Didcot: Foster, Elkins, Woodley, McKirnan, Carnell, Heapy, Dutton-Black, Baines (Haysham 70), Longford, Mills, Whitehead.
