FOOTBALL: Ardley move four points clear

Ardley United extended their lead at the top of the Uhlsport Hellenic League Premier Division to four points with a 3-2 home win against Shrivenham on Saturday.

Goals from Troy Bryan, Steve Howkins and Callum Convey won it for Kevin Brock’s side.

Steve Robertson and Matt Bown replied for Shrivenham.

Wantage Town stayed third after a 1-1 draw at Newbury. Richard Claydon had put the visitors ahead, only for Carl Jenner to level.

Louis Joyce hit a hat-trick as Oxford City Nomads got back to winning ways with a 4-1 home success against Highworth Town.

Zac MacEachran completed their tally with TJ Bohane scoring for Highworth from the penalty spot.

Thame United maintained their title challenge with a 3-0 win over bottom club Abingdon Town.

Niall Hodgkins, Oliver Lynch and Ian Pykett scoring for Thame United.

In Division 1 West, Carterton secured a point with a 1-1 draw at second-placed Shortwood. Jamie Macdonagh got the goal for Carterton.

Clanfield remain in third place, despite going down 4-0 at home to Lydney Town.

Hook Norton beat Old Woodstock Town 4-0, with Jason Tillcock and Craig Robinson each scoring twice.

Easington Sports crushed Letcombe 5-0 with Luke Gardner bagging braces and other goals coming from Andrew Stidder, Carl Stan-den and Dan Reeves.

AFC Hinksey remain leaders of Division 1 East, after they defeated Didcot Town Res 3-0 at home, with Ryan Curtin registering a hat-trick.

Second-placed Headington Amateurs beat Penn & Tylers Green 6-3 at home.

Paul Hedger and Tom Payne each scored twice, alongside goals from Ben Green and Ollie Zaja.

Milton United lost 3-0 at Burnham.
