Oxford City manager Mike Ford praised his side’s attacking prowess in the second half as they beat Vauxhall Motors 3-0 in Skrill North at Marsh Lane on Saturday, writes MATTHEW BRUCE.
City had created few clear chances in the first half despite bossing the game, but impressively made and then capitalised on numerous opportunities after the break following Ford’s half-time team talk.
He said: “That was what we spoke about at half-time, having an end product: crosses, shots, goals.
“Then we go out in the second half and play the same way, but we get three goals because we shot, we crossed and we got bodies forward.
“We got the three points because it was a good performance. Now they’ve got to produce that again next week.”
The next week could be key for City as not only do they travel to fellow strugglers Worcester City on Sunday, but Ford also hopes to secure a longer deal for loanee Kayden Jackson.
“The ball is in Swindon’s court,” he said.
“Clearly I don’t want to lose him. He probably has eyes on playing higher up right now, but he needs to play and he’ll play for us every week.”
