Banbury Utd 0

Poole Tn 0

Banbury United kept their third successive clean sheet as they drew with Poole Town in the Calor League Premier Division, but had to work hard, with the visitors dominating the second half.

United began the game well and were unfortunate not to take the lead 15 minutes when Albi Skendi struck a superb shot from 25 yards which rattled a post.

Poole responded well, though, and five minutes later Marvin Brooks was put through on goal by Steve Devlin, only for his shot to go inches wide.

As the half drew to a conclusion Banbury’s Dominic Lawless had an excellent chance from ten yards, but screwed his shot wide.

On 48 minutes Carl Preston’s shot looked destined for the back of the net, only for the Poole man to be denied by an excellent save from Leigh Bedwell.

The longer the half went on the more dominant the visitors became. Will Spetch somehow managed to put the ball over from close-in when it looked easier to score.

United could have snatched a winner in the final minute when a Scott Bridges corner from the right fell to Kynan Issac on the edge of the penalty area, only for the shot to go just a foot over the bar.

Banbury Utd: Bedwell, Cray, Mbamarah, Pinto (Simpson 68), Blossom, Ryan, Lawless (Morgan 87), Martin, Skendi, Isaac, Talabi (Bridges 33). Sub not used: McNulty.

Attendance: 317.
