FOOTBALL: Ford stays positive despite deadlock
10:30am Monday 21st October 2013 in Non League
Oxford City’s three-match winning run came to an end with their 0-0 draw at home to Worcester City on Saturday, but manager Mike Ford is remaining positive, writes MATTHEW BRUCE.
City remain in the relegation zone in Skrill North, but with just one defeat in their last seven games in all competitions, Ford feels his side have turned a corner.
“Six weeks ago, we would have lost that game, but today we’ve got a point,” he said. “Yes, we would have loved three points, but sometimes you’ve got to take what you get.
“They came here and just said ‘break us down’ and on the day we just weren’t good enough to do that.”
City’s attention now turns to their big FA Cup fourth qualifying round tie at Dover Athletic on Saturday, and Ford believes it is important they prepare properly.
“I’m watching them on Tuesday against Eastbourne Borough,” he said.
“I was able to go and watch Eastleigh and I’m able to watch Dover, but it’s not often I get to do that.
“Having a team watched is huge and it’s no coincidence that we’ve watched teams recently and picked up results.”
City are running a supporters’ coach to Dover, departing at 10am.
