Banbury United manager Edwin Stein has praised the character of his side and says the same attitude is needed when they host high-flying Hitchin Town in Calor League tomorrow.
On Tuesday, Banbury beat Corby 3-1 at home in the Premier Division as they bounced back from their 2-1 FA Cup exit to Cirencester.
“I was very displeased by Saturday’s performance,” said Stein.
“They let everyone down and that’s not happened since I came here.
“We had a candid conversation. I usually let the players join in, but this time they had to do a lot of listening.
“I said if it didn’t change I would move people on and to their credit they put on a fantastic performance.
“We went down to ten men early on when Wayne Blossom was harshly sent off, but we kept on going.”
Banbury give late tests to Scott Bridges (Achilles) and Ade Talabi (ankle and groin).
Didcot Town boss Andy Wallbridge says defender Luke Carnell’s rejection of a move to rivals Yate showed he is there for the long run.
The Bristol side put in an approach after Didcot beat them 2-0, but Wallbridge said: “It’s great news and I think it’s important to let the players and the supporters know about it.
“It shows that he is on board with what we are trying to do here.”
Meanwhile, Wallbridge says they can use their displays against North Leigh as a confidence booster ahead Bishop’s Cleeve’s visit in Division 1 South & West.
Although they lost 2-1 at the Millers in the league, Didcot got revenge in the FA Cup last weekend in a 2-1 win.
“They are a good side and are going to be up there at the end of the season,” said Wallbridge.
“We’ve played 180 minutes against them and they didn’t cause us too many problems.
“Saturday is big because Cleeve are down there with us, but we’ll be going into it with the confidence that we are capable of winning.”
Didcot will be without Jamie Heapy (knee) and Sam Elkins (ankle).
North Leigh travel to Taunton Town.
