12:00pm Monday 2nd September 2013 in Non League
Adam Lovegrove smashed four of Oxford City Nomads’ goals as they moved up to second in the Uhlsport Hellenic League Premier Division with an 8-0 thrashing of Abingdon Town on Saturday.
Strikes from John Rixon, Jack Self, Ben Moses and an own goal completed the rout, which saw their Oxfordshire rivals slip to second from bottom of the table.
With morning leaders Wantage Town not in action, Reading Town went three points clear at the top with a 2-1 win at Newbury.
Ben Connolly scored a hat-trick for Thame United as they stormed to a 4-2 victory at Brimscombe & Thrupp.
An own goal completed their tally with the hosts replying late on through Karl Nash and Ashley Caldwell.
Kidlington finally got off the mark – at the fifth time of asking – as they defeated Ascot United 2-0 at home, thanks to goals from Michael Duerden and Tom Castle.
Abingdon United stayed at the foot of the table following a 2-1 home defeat against Holyport, for whom Dale Wright scored both their goals.
Scott Davis hit back for the hosts. Shrivenham crashed to a 3-0 defeat at Wootton Bassett Town, with Jordan Roberts, Sam Packer and Sean Bailey finding the net for the home side.
