New signing Manny Soetan’s late goal secured Banbury United a 1-1 draw at home to Kettering Town as they warmed-up for their Calor League Premier Division campaign at Spencer Stadium on Saturday.
With only minutes left, it looked as though the Puritans’ unbeaten friendly record would end.
However, two minutes from time Soetan, who joined from Wessex League side Blackfield & Langley, levelled when he shot home from just inside the penalty area.
Banbury, who fielded former Puritans midfielder John Mbamarah in the centre of defence, plus a host of new signings, were rocked after only three minutes when the visitors took the lead.
A cross from the right by Louis Hamilton was firmly headed home from six yards by Jermaine Clarke past Mark Wellstood in the Banbury goal.
Banbury struggled to create any worthwhile chances in the first half, but improved after the break.
Ben Polk went closest to levelling for Banbury on 63 minutes.
He broke through on goal, only for his well-struck shot, from the edge of the area, to go just inches wide of a post.
And with minutes left, that looked to be it for Banbury, only for former Rushden striker Soetan to grab the equaliser for Edwin Stein’s men.
