FOOTBALL: Carterton hit rivals for six

CARTERTON cruised to a 6-2 win at Lydney Town in Division 1 West of the Uhlsport Hellenic League.

Lewis Brownhill, Michael Duerden and George Seacole scored two apiece, before Lydney replied through Jonathan Kear and a Bailey Hoare penalty.

Mark Dennis’s equaliser on the hour mark gave Hook Norton a 1-1 draw at Lambourn Sports, who had led through Matt Pedder’s 40th-minute strike.

Craig Mays fired Clanfield into the lead on the half-hour mark at home to Cricklade Town, but Tom Price replied five minutes later in a 1-1 draw.

Tom Dingle’s second-half double condemned Old Woodstock Town to a 3-1 defeat at Wootton Bassett Town.

Liam Edmondson opener for the hosts had been cancelled out by Tom Green in the first half.

North Leigh Res went down 2-0 at Purton, with first-half goals from Scott Campbell and Steve Avenall doing the damage. Denel Thomas and Aniclet Odihambo bagged braces in AFC Hinskey’s 6-3 home win over Chalfont Wasps in Division 1 East.

Julian McCalmon and Kieron Davis also netted for Hinskey, with Conor Cumber hitting a hat-trick for Chalfont.

Milton United went down 1-0 at home to Rayners Lane, with Mark Woolley’s goal taking the leaders four points clear at the top from Headington Amateurs, who were without a game. Gavin Mackie grabbed a late winner to give Didcot Town Res a 2-1 home victory against Thatcham Town Res. Conor Allmond’s 70th-minute opener for Didcot had been cancelled out by Adam Brocks eight minutes later. Easington Sports drew 1-1 at home to Finchampstead. The goals came in the first 12 minutes with Carl Standen levelling for Easington after Adam Barnard had given Finchampstead the lead. Chinnor were held to a 0-0 draw at home to Woodley Town.

• LETCOMBE’S run in the Berks & Bucks Intermediate Cup came to an end with a 2-1 defeat at Pitstone & Ivinghoe in the semi-final. Kieran Goughty fired the hosts ahead after 35 minutes, and they doubled their advantage through a Luke Stone own goal in the 57th minute.

Pitstone’s Grant Fryer was sent off for a second bookable offence with seven minutes left.

And Letcombe pulled a goal back three minutes later through Mark Brind, but it wasn’t enough.
