Crowmarsh Gifford, who won 1-0 at at Berinsfield in Division 1
Leaders Wootton & Dry Sandford lost their unbeaten record with a 1-0 defeat at Faringdon in North Berks League Division 1, writes PHIL ANNETS.
Matt Pill’s early second-half strike gave Faringdon victory in front of 181 spectators, in the second of four matches on the league’s Groundhop Day.
Joining Wootton on nine points are Didcot Casuals, who ran out 5-0 winners at home to AFC Wallingford, with Fletcher Hoey striking twice alongside Jake Chaffey, Lawrence Hoey and Liam McCulloch.
In third place are unbeaten Saxton Rovers, who won 3-0 at home to Long Wittenham Athletic.
This came courtesy of an Adam Greenaway double and a debutant goal from 16-year-old Lewis Bloomfield, playing alongside his father Steve.
Andy Allum gave Crowmarsh Gifford a 1-0 win at Berinsfield.
Pete Ashman netted a hat-trick as Benson AFC triumphed 3-1 at home to Childrey United, for whom Tim Harris scored.
The Division 2 match between hosts Coleshill United and Ardington & Lockinge was the opening game of the Groundhop Day and 171 spectators saw the away side run out 5-2 winners.
Adam Little (2), Jamie Clarke (2) and Tom Eatwell netted, with Jason Evans scoring both Coleshill goals.
Division 3 leaders Childrey United thrashed visitors Marcham Res 7-0.
Tom Weeks netted a hat-trick, with Neil Smith (2), Nathan Blackwell and Vaughan Just also on target.
The third leg of the Groundhop Day saw Stanford in the Vale and Blewbury draw 1-1 in front of a crowd of 178.
Joe Lee Mitchell put Blewbury ahead, but Jamie Gregory equalised after Stanford’s Tyrone Mayall had been dismissed.
In Division 5, Groundhop Day concluded with an amazing feat of scoring prowess for the 188 people watching, Kieran Watson helping himself to an eight-goal haul as Uffington United won 12-0 against Appleton Stars.
Ben Cousins also chipped in with a hat-trick of his own, while Jamie Glock netted the other goal.
