FOOTBALL: Elmes is star with a treble

NORTH BERKS LEAGUE

SCOTT Elmes hit a hat-trick in East Hendred’s 4-1 win over Sutton Courtenay in Division 1, writes PHIL ANNETS.

Jason Maynard grabbed Hendred’s fourth in a dominant display.

A double for James Newport gave AFC Wallingford a 3-1 victory over Faringdon Town, their second successive win.

Ashley Searle scored Wallingford’s other goal, while Gary Sutton replied.

Wootton & Dry Sandford maintained their perfect start with a 3-0 home win over Benson AFC, with Sam Pat-terson, Jonny Weir and Luke Ingram on the scoresheet.

Didcot Casuals also won 3-1 at Berinsfield thanks to a Laurence Hoey brace and a Fletcher Hoey goal. Mark Ingram replied for home side.

Abingdon United Res are the new leaders in Division 2 following a 9-2 thumping of Coleshill United, with strikes from Chris Hooper (3), Dan Cox (2), Steve Pitson (2), Wayne Herbert and Ryan Johnson.

Coleshill netted via Sam Rees and Mark Simpkins.

Previous leaders Dorchester were held to a 3-3 draw at Ardington & Lockinge.

Josh McInerny (2) and Ross Lyons scored for the visitors, with Ollie O’Hanlon netting twice for Ardington alongside a Jamie Wilkins effort.

Elliot Baldwin, Marc Reid and Toby Daley scored the goals that gave Wantage Town A a 3-2 win at Saxton Rovers Res, who replied through David Carter’s double.

Ben Kent netted for Benson AFC Res, while Andy Cooper replied for Steventon in their 1-1 draw.

Goals from Jason Evans, Troy Redman, James Tyler and David Cole gave Faringdon Town Res a 4-0 win at home to Blewbury to stay top of Division 3.

Didcot Casuals Res saw Shaun Burmingham hit a hat-trick in their 3-0 win over East Hendred Res.

Patrick Walsh also hit a treble for Milton United Res as they beat Stanford in the Vale 3-2.

Jamie Gregory and Tyrone Mayall replied.

Stuart Smith struck four times in Harwell International Res’ 7-1 victory against Marcham Res.

Josh Chapman, Ollie Barton and Jake Thompson also scored for a rampant Harwell, with Leighton Jackson replying.

Hanney United are setting the pace in Division 4, thanks to a 3-0 win at Steventon Res, with goals coming from Andy Hope, Graham Carson and Andy Bishop.
