FOOTBALL: Ardley move up to fourth

Ardley United went fourth in the Premier Division when they beat Shrivenham 3-2 with goals from Adam Richmond, Scott Bridges and Steve Howkins. Bradley Gill and Scott Scanlon replied.

Thame United won 3-1 at Highmoor Ibis with goals scored by Mitchell Meredith, Ellis Hercules and Stuart Barr. Early season pacemakers Witney Town lost 3-1 to Ascot United on Friday in a feisty match that saw three penalties awarded and a red card issued to the Witney keeper James Zoldan. James Dobson scored for Witney from the penalty spot.

Headington Amateurs’ recent lack of goals was put behind them in style as they rattled in eight without reply against Henley in Division 1 East.

Liam Morbey, Tom Payne and Luke Cuff each scored twice with further goals coming from Oliver Zaja and Ben Green.

Gavin Mackie scored a hat-trick as Didcot Town Res outclassed Chalfont Wasps 5-2. Tom Gooding weighed in with the other two goals. Easington Sports beat Penn & Tylers Green 4-1 with goals from Ben Milner, Andrew Parsons and two from Shaun Lambourne.

Clanfield drew 1-1 with Division 1 West leaders League leaders Brimscombe and Thrupp, despite being reduced to ten men for the last 35 minutesafter Sean McKeon was sent off for a second yellow card.

Clanfield went ahead in the 53rd minute when Steve Olphert converted a penalty before Craig Cole levelled two minutes later.

Adam Bruce scored a treble as Letcombe came from 3-1 down at half-time to draw 3-3 away to Tytherington Rocks.

Tytherington had led through goals from Sam Taylor, Jack Smyth and Joe White.
