North Berks League history was made at Sutton Courtenay where their 8-2 win over Benson Lions in Division 2 was officiated by an Australian female referee for the first time.
Rachel Mitchenson, from Brisbane, is more accustomed to officiating Westfield W-League matches involving teams such as Brisbane Roar and Melbourne Victory, but she has been given clearance to referee local league matches in the Abingdon area, while visiting the UK.
In the game itself, Sutton’s Adam Oram and Steve Pitson will be fighting over the match ball as both scored a hat-trick apiece alongside a Dan Cox double.
Callum Walker and Phil Goss hit back for Benson Lions.
