Dave Rich, the North Berks League general secretary, was honoured at their annual meeting.

Rich was presented with the GR Davis Memorial Trophy for ‘a long meritorious service to the league’ in an awards ceremony after the meeting.

OTHER AWARDS Dave Bunce Memorial Bowl (highest average marked level 7 referee): Andy Plaistow. Dennis Wilkes Memorial Trophy (top club secretary); Cheryl Angell (Kintbury Rgrs Res). Club linesman: Ady Baradell (Faringdon Town). Jim Goodall Memorial Cup (long-serving referees): Ian Brown.

l FORMER Abingdon Town boss Pete Lamont is the new manager of North Berks League Division 1 side Drayton.

Previous players and any newcomers are invited to either attend a meet-the-manager session at the club tomorrow (from 7.30), or come along to training on any Tuesday or Thursday, starting on Tuesday, July 13.

l DIDCOT Casuals Reserves, who play in Division 4 of the North Berks League, are looking for a new manager.

ABINGDON United have taken up the place vacated by Witney United for Clanfield’s annual Jim Newman Memorial Trophy. The tournament starts on Saturday.

First round draw July 31: Shrivenham v Letcombe (2pm), Clanfield v Witney & District FA (5pm).

Aug 1: Carterton v Faringdon Tn (1pm), Abingdon Utd v Purton (4pm).

CLANFIELD are looking for an away pre-season friendly on July 20.
