Oxford City 1 (Steele 54)
Farnborough 1 (McDonald pen 61)
A harsh penalty denied Oxford City what would have been a deserved win against the runaway Premier Division leaders at Court Place Farm on Saturday.
Farnborough, who were unbeaten away from home, tested City keeper Jonathan North early on, through Adam Boyle’s header.
In an end-to-end contest, Michael Lyon went close for the hosts when put through by Lee Steele, but keeper Michael Jordan denied him at the expense of a corner.
Determined City took the lead early in the second half when the in-form Lee Steele fired in from Steve Davis’s corner City were dealt a cruel blow seven minutes later when a cross from the right clipped the hand of Dave Savage.
The referee awarded a penalty, and Dean McDonald made no mistake from the spot to equalise.
Substitute Bradley Bubb could well have won the game for the visitors when presented with a simple chance after North mis-handled a cross. But he skied his shot over the bar.
City were good value for their point and might have won with a bit more luck.
Oxford City: North, Ballard, Davis, Savage, Clarke, Gunn, Lyon (Douglas 73) Emery, Malone, Steele, Janes (Bell 69). Subs not used Faulkner, Perpetuini.
