A DRAMATIC last-minute goal from Josh Cottrell saw Ardington lift the War Memorial Cup with a 1-0 win over fellow Division 2 side Blewbury, writes RICHARD UNDERWOOD.

An entertaining match in front of 250 spectators at Wantage Town saw Blewbury reduced to ten men just before the break when Lee Chapman was shown a second yellow card.

It looked as though the match was heading towards extra time, only for Shane McGowan’s cross to deflect into the path of Cottrell, who fired home with seconds remaining.

Tom Stanley’s four-timer steered Saxton Rovers into the final of the Charity Shield with a 5-1 win against last year’s winners Berinsfield.

Stanley put Saxton ahead from the spot, before Michael Hinkin levelled.

Stanley restored Saxton’s lead, and he completed his hat-trick with an unstoppable 20-yard effort in the second half.

Substitute Ollie Nadin made it 4-1, heading in from six yards, before Stanley scored his fourth to secure a place in the final against Westminster next week.

Berinsfield Res lifted the North Berks League Cup after a 3-2 win over Division 4 champions Cumnor Minors Under 21.

Jon Welch fired in from 25 yards to give Berinsfield the lead, then Mark Ingram’s free-kick made it 2-0.

Cumnor pulled one back through Jordan Howe, but Ingram restored Berinsfield’s two-goal lead after his penalty was saved, but he struck home the rebound.

Cumnor pulled another goal back as Josh Rough struck home from 30 yards, but Berinsfield held on.

In Division 1, Westminster moved up to third with a 7-1 win over North Oxford.

They scored through Michael Hooton, David Humphreys, Aiden Di Toro, Andy Younie, Tom Srawley and Kostas Diamantopoulos, with North Oxford hitting back through Charles Appiah.

East Hendred Res were crowned Division 3 champions with a 5-1 win over Marcham.

Their goals came from Chris Kennedy, Jamie Wilkins, Ben Eltham, Liam Revell and Luke Hayes.
