OXFORD City recorded their second victory of the Easter period as Kaiman Anderson’s goal saw them edge home 1-0 at struggling Gosport Borough, writes RYAN BRATLEY.

Fielding an unchanged side from their success against Chelmsford, City started brightly in the Vanarama National League South clash.

Jefferson Louis’ goalbound effort was pushed around the post after five minutes and Lee Henderson went close from the resulting corner.

Anderson then took advantage of the home side’s inability to clear their lines, pouncing on Freddie Grant’s blocked shot and tucking the ball neatly into the bottom corner to give City a tenth-minute lead.

With Gosport struggling to create any clear chances they found themselves relying on defensive errors to get a sight of goal, Henderson and Grant both to thank for strong blocks on the edge of Craig Hill’s area.

City could have doubled their advantage just before the half-hour mark but Louis saw his shot blocked at point-blank range by Nick Jordan.

Despite trailing, Gosport arguably went into the break on top as City struggled to pick out their forwards.

In the second half, Scott Davies wriggled his way through the Gosport defence, only to see his effort roll just wide.

Jordan was forced into two more good saves, denying Forde and Reece Fleet, before Tommy Lee cleared a Wilson Carvalho corner off the line.

The hosts’ best chance fell to Pat Suraci, the substitute rising highest but heading wide.
