MICHAEL Appleton says Oxford United’s players will get a spring in their step when they see the pitch at Sixfields this afternoon, writes DAVID PRITCHARD.
The U’s have been hampered in recent games
by a poor playing surface at the Kassam Stadium and Oldham Athletic’s Boundary Park.
But they will have no such issues at Northampton Town, who have one of the best in Sky Bet League One.
Appleton was envious when he saw it for himself on a scouting mission last month.
United’s head coach said: “I can’t wait. I was there a few weeks back and I was very jealous.
“It’s a fantastic playing surface and we won’t be moaning about the pitch afterwards.
“The players should get a lift from playing on a decent surface.”
