BANBURY United manager Mike Ford will not be distracted by his side’s proximity to the play-off places when they travel to Weymouth this evening.

Victory would move the Puritans into the top five in the Evo-Stik Southern League Premier Division, but Ford refuses to get carried away.

“We’ve hit my target of 50 points, so now I just want to add to that,” he said.

“The players showed great resolve to win the game on Saturday (1-0 at Kings Langley).

“I just want them to do the same again and not worry about anything else.”

Ricky Johnson (knee) remains Banbury’s only absentee.

New loan signing James Smith is like to feature on the bench again this evening, having played the final half-hour at the weekend.

“He’s another great attacking addition and gives us something different,” Ford said.

“I actually tried to get him in the summer, but we couldn’t make it happen before the Premier League’s transfer window closed.

“But I kept a close eye on his progress and was delighted to be able to bring him in.”

North Leigh have signed defender Will Wellon from Evesham United ahead of their trip to Bishops Cleeve in Division 1 South & West.

Top scorer George Seacole is out with a hamstring injury, while defender Matt Sysum is suspended.

Sysum and new boy Wellon were previously teammates at the Gloucestershire side and manager John Brough hopes the pair can continue a highly successful partnership.

“Those two were part of a very strong defence at Evesham in the last couple of years and kept a lot of clean sheets together,” Brough said.

“It just gives us another option and more competition at the back.”
