THE transfer fee Oxford United are liable to pay Plymouth Argyle for Curtis Nelson will be determined by an independent panel next week.
This summer the centre back rejected a new contract at Home Park, where he was captain, and signed a two-year contract in July.
As Nelson was under 24, Plymouth are entitled to compensation, but the two clubs could not agree on a figure.
It will therefore be decided by a hearing on Monday, November 7, held by the Professional Football Compensation Committee (PFCC), whose decision will be binding on both parties.
The PFCC is made up of an independent chairman and representatives from the Football League, the Professional Footballers’ Association and the League Managers’ Association.
Nelson made almost 250 appearances for Argyle, for whom he made his debut aged 16 in 2010.
It is 12 years since United were last involved in a tribunal, when they received an initial £150,000 from Sunderland for Dean Whitehead.
