JEFFERSON Louis capped his Oxford City debut with the final goal in their remarkable 3-1 victory away to Poole on Saturday.

The much-travelled striker, who has played for more than 30 clubs in a 20-year career, scored in injury time to seal a win that takes City out of the Vanarama National League South relegation zone.

The 37-year-old, who includes Oxford United among his former clubs, only joined City from Staines in midweek and helped inflict newly-promoted Poole’s first home defeat of the season

There was little to choose between the sides in the early stages.

A Scott Davies free-kick for City, was put behind for a corner, while Poole’s Steve Devlin sent a long-range set-piece just wide of the wide of target.

Playing with much more purpose than of late, City took a deserved lead after 22 minutes.

James Roberts’s pass set up Mike Fondop, who shot past keeper Nick Hutchings.

Louis struck an upright with a header, while at the other end City survived a dangerous cross from Luke Burbridge.

However, City doubled their lead in first-half injury time, when Roberts was brought down inside the area, Davies making no mistake with the resultant spot-kick.

The visitors stayed on top in the second half, but Poole halved the deficit in the 67th minute when substitute Sam Surridge race through to score.

City held on to their slender lead with difficult, before making sure of the points in injury time, when Louis held of the challenge of a defender to slot home past Hutchings.
