GOALKEEPER Mitch Larmen netted at both ends as his Marcham side narrowly edged out hosts Uffington United 2-1 in North Berks League Division 3, writes RICHARD UNDERWOOD.

Larmen’s first intervention came early in the second half, as he fumbled Josh Jefferies’ snapshot into his own net.

David Yallop levelled for the visitors before Larmen won it for Marcham with a long free-kick from just inside his own half, which beat everyone on its way into the net.

Berinsfield continued their unbeaten start to the season with a 3-1 victory over Division 2 Sutton Courtenay in Charity Shield Group B.

Max Palmer hit a brace and Charlie Lee also scored, with Jack Dinger netting the away side’s consolation.

Long Wittenham top the group following their 8-0 thrashing of Dorchester.

Sam McDermaid scored three, with Callum Heapy, Chris Bowler, Will Houseman, Matthew Saunders and Will Vaukins also on target.

Adam Clayden also netted a treble as East Hendred won 6-0 at home to Steventon in Group C, Matty Cramp bagging a brace and Steve Jezzard also registering.

Frank Haines, Louis Bloomfield and Michael Smith were on target for Saxton Rovers in their 3-3 draw at North Oxford.

Aaron Andrews scored twice in reply for the hosts, with Ryan Macer also scoring.

Westminster shocked Division 1 side Stanford-in-the-Vale with a fine 2-1 victory in Group D.

Tom Srawley and Michael Hooton bagged the decisive goals for the visitors, with David Griffin replying.

DANIEL Osborne netted five times as Didcot Eagles subjected visitors Hanney 66 to a 6-1 thumping in the preliminary round of the Berks & Bucks Junior Cup.

Gary Austin netted Eagles’ other goal, while Charlie Roy bagged Hanney’s consolation.

Wallingford Town Res also secured their place in the first round in emphatic fashion with an 8-0 demolition of Hop Leaf thanks to a Mikey Fellows brace and goals from Kyle Carrigan, Howard Hawkins, Craig Passey, Neal Carrington, Max Mohan Triggle and Brandon Burton.
