BANBURY United reached the third qualifying round for the first time in 13 years with a resounding 6-1 win away to ten-man Cirencester Town.

Felipe Barcelos scored twice on his last appearance for the Puritans before going off to university, while there was also a debut goal for Conor McDonagh, following his move from Oxford City.

But the star was Zac McEachran, who marked his return from injury with a goal and set up two more.

Cirencester, who also play in the Evo-Stik Southern League Premier Division, had teenage defender Alfie Kilgour sent off after 11 minutes for a reckless challenge on Jacob Blackstock.

The Puritans took the lead after 17 minutes, when from a move started by McEachran, Barcelos turned in Blackstock’s cross.

McEachran made it 2-0 on the half-hour, exchanging passes with Oxford United loanee George Jeacock before stabbing home.

In the second half, sub McDonagh made an impact by tucking away a chance laid on by McEachran on 55 minutes.

Barcelos got his second goal ten minutes later from McDonagh’s cross.

Then Ricky Johnson’s header was saved by keeper Harvey Rivers and deflected off Cirencester captain Matt Liddiard for an own goal.

Liddiard pulled a goal back in stoppage time, but with the last kick Callum White smashed home to give Banbury their sixth goal.
