LEEDS United are in the running to make a move for Kemar Roofe, according to reports in Yorkshire.
Oxford United chairman Darryl Eales admitted earlier this month he felt up to five clubs in the Sky Bet Championship were interested in the star forward.
Leeds, who have given new boss Garry Monk money to spend, appear to be one of them, following strong suggestions in the Yorkshire Evening Post.
Oxford United are yet to receive a formal approach for any of their players this summer, but head coach Michael Appleton - speaking before news of the Leeds interest broke - revealed contact had been made by interested clubs and bids are expected.
He said: "We had a couple of conversations just before I went on holiday with a couple of clubs who were enquiring.
"The situation was very simple: a lot of my players are under contract for at least two seasons.
"In terms of offers, there’s no doubt about it - I would imagine there would be one or two who will make concrete offers for some of our players.
"Ultimately like always it ends up being a hell of a lot shorter than your evaluation."
