BANBURY United boss Mike Ford is unhappy at what he calls 'unprofessional' approaches for his players as they prepare to welcome Mangotsfield United in Evo-Stik Southern League Division 1 South & West tomorrow.

United are looking to extend an impressive eight-game unbeaten streak in the league – which has attracted the attention of other clubs.

“We’ve got some very good players who aren’t in the team and one or two of them have become unsettled by phone calls from other clubs,” said a disgruntled Ford.

“I find that to be unprofessional.

“My players are young and there’s no better place for them to be than right here.”

Ollie Stanbridge is suspended, but the Puritans are hopeful of completing a one-month loan for 23-year-old midfielder George Nash from Worcester City in time to play tomorrow.

Ford said: “He’s a really good footballer and he fits in really well with everything we’re trying to do with this football club.”

Wantage Town have signed goalkeeper Daniel Smith from Woodley United ahead of their home match with Cinderford Town.

The visitors have been beaten just once so far this season and Manager Daniel Barry said: "Cinderford will be another difficult test.

“They have started well, so we will have to be on top of our game to get anything from it.”

Wantage are without Carl Evans (hip), Tai Hulbert-Thomas (hamstring), and Stephen Davis (toe) are injured, while Jake Johns, Jared Jones and Tyron Leigh also face fitness tests.
