OXFORD United Women’s manager Les Taylor hailed the impact of new striker Destiney Toussaint after she netted the winner in Sunday’s 3-2 win at Watford in FA Women’s Super League 2.

The former Coventry City striker got off the mark on her fourth start for the U’s, bundling home in the 85th minute to seal a remarkable comeback, and Taylor feels there is plenty more to come.

“I thought she had a really good game and it’ll give her a lift,” Taylor said.

“The games since she’s come in have been Reading, Birmingham and Notts County, three real tough games, but she’s always been available and she has retained the ball for us.

“It’s difficult in the female game because nine times out of ten teams play with one lone striker and it’s a hard job, but she does it really well.”

The win came after heavy back-to-back defeats to higher league opposition in the FA WSL Continental Tyres Cup, but Taylor feels those experiences have not harmed them.

“We’ve played the likes of Birmingham and Notts County of the WSL1 and our heads haven’t dropped.

“We’ve come out with a bit of momentum, because there were periods in those games where we’ve done really well.

“Compared to last season the girls have come on leaps and bounds and that’s our second double of the season.”
