Manager Les Taylor admitted their display against Yeovil could force him to change his plans for tomorrow’s FA Women’s Super League 2 clash against Millwall Lionesses at Abingdon United’s Northcourt Road (2pm), writes MATTHEW BRUCE.

Although the Us went down to a 1-0 home defeat to the west country side on Thursday in their FA WSL Continental Tyres Cup Group 3 opener, Taylor was delighted with his side’s performance.

The United boss made five changes to the side which lost to league leaders Doncaster Rovers Belles on Sunday and said the newcomers had excelled themselves.

He said: “You want some competition for places and I don’t want to be having to just pick the same team every week.

“That’s the way it’s got to be at every football club.

“It gives me food for thought and a few of them might have just pushed their foot in the door.”

Sarah Hill ghosted in unmarked at the back post to head home the only goal of the game for Yeovil after 15 minutes.

Oxford had chances to equalise, with Helen King clipping the bar with a header and also firing a dangerous shot narrowly over in the first half.

Yeovil could have sealed the match in the closing stages, but fluffed their lines.

Taylor added: ““I thought that the girls who came in did extremely well, but you could tell they needed game time because they were coming down with cramp.

“But we kept going until the final whistle and could have nicked a draw.”
