LES Taylor will ring the changes tonight (7.45) as Oxford United Women get their FA WSL Continental Tyres Cup Group 3 campaign under way against Yeovil Town.

The U's were beaten 5-2 at home to table-toppers Doncaster Rovers Belles in WSL 2 on Sunday and Taylor will use the cup competition to give fringe players the opportunity to earn themselves a place in the side.

“Because the first team have been quite consistent, a lot of the squad members haven't been able to get game time,” he said.

“There will be two or three players who come in for this one to get 90 minutes and they need it.

“That's good for me, because for league purposes I need to know that if I bring them on they will do a job for me.”

With the U's also set to face WSL 1 sides Bristol Academy and Notts County in the competition, Taylor believes it offers his side a great opportunity to test themselves against some of the England stars who excelled in this year's Women's World Cup.

He said: “I think all of the girls are looking forward to it, because it's a bit of a challenge and you like to compete against the best sides in the country.

“Even though we're making a couple of minor changes, we still want to be competitive and progress if we can.”
