OXFORD City were crowned Oxfordshire Under 16 Youth Cup champions with a 3-1 victory over Banbury Irish at Banbury United’s Spencer Stadium.

Neither side were able to break the deadlock in the first half, though Irish were indebted to goalkeeper Adam Doyle for a fine save to keep out one effort and City also struck the bar.

City raced into a two-goal lead early in the second half thanks to Elliott Heritage and Luke Coles.

But with ten minutes to play they were pegged back when James Smith rifled home from close range after a goalmouth scramble.

Irish pressed hard for an equaliser in the closing stages, but City made it safe with a second from Heritage to secure a third trophy of the season.
