Oxford United Women made it back-to-back victories in FA Women’s Super League 2 with a 2-1 home win over struggling London Bees at Abingdon United.

The U's took the lead after 15 minutes of Sunday’s game when Kayleigh Hines fired a free-kick over the Bees wall, which snuck into the left-hand corner.

Just six minutes later it was 2-0 when Katie Stanley’s cross slipped through the hands of goalkeeper Sophie Harris and bobbled over the line.

With the visitors playing an increasingly high line, United had further chances.

But Katie Stanley, Lauren Allison and Holly Pickett all fluffed their lines when presented with golden opportunities in front of goal.

And they were made to regret those misses just before the hour mark when Gemma Fraser stretched out a leg to tip a floated cross beyond Oxford keeper Demi Lambourne and into the net.

Bees poured forward in search of an equaliser and came close when substitute Ashleigh Goddard rasped a shot against the crossbar.

But United were able to hold on for victory, which lifts them to fourth in the table.
