Matty Taylor was one of Bristol Rovers’s spot-kick heroes as the Pirates claimed a place back in the Football League with a dramatic 5-3 shoot-out win over Grimsby Town at Wembley yesterday.
The former North Leigh striker, who hails from Kidlington, fired home Rovers’ second penalty after the Vanarama Conference play-off final finished 1-1 after extra time.
And with ex-Oxford United striker Jon-Paul Pittman missing for Grimsby, it was left to another former U’s man, Lee Mansell, to smash home the winning spot-kick.
