Banbury United boss Paul Davis admitted he has a few more grey hairs after watching his side’s incredible Oxfordshire Senior Cup victory over North Leigh at the Kassam Stadium.
The Puritans, who were relegated from the Evo-Stik Southern League Premier Division this season, twice came from behind to draw 4-4, before winning the resulting penalty shoot-out 4-3.
“I think I’ve probably been through a season’s emotions in one night, but it wouldn’t be us without it,” said an exuberant Davis.
“I think it was probably better for the neutral than it was for me and Mark Gee (North Leigh boss) in the dugout.
“But full credit to the lads; I think they deserved something like this and tonight they’ve got something.
“They’ve had to dig deep from 2-0 down and then they’ve let the lead slip at 3-2 and to come back from that isn’t easy.
“If we’d been together when I first took over we’d have been all right this season, but this is a silver lining.”
