Police are hunting a man who fled from a two-car crash that closed Woolwich Church Street yesterday and left another man in hospital.
Police and the London Ambulance Service were called to the accident at around 1.10pm yesterday afternoon (April 29).
A Met Police spokesman said two cars had been in collision and the 45-year-old driver of a dark coloured Nissan Almera was taken to hospital suffering a back injury. His condition is described as serious but stable.
The driver of the other car, a blue coloured Vauxhall Zafira, did not remain at the scene and left on foot, heading towards Warwick Street.
He has been described as around 6ft tall, wearing blue coloured clothing. It is not known if he was injured or not.
The Met Police believe the Vauxhall crossed the central reservation and collided with the Nissan coming in the opposite direction
Woolwich Church Street was closed between the ferry and Prospect Vale for investigation work, but re-opened at around 5.20pm.
Any witnesses or anyone with any information are asked to call collision investigators on their witness line on 020 8285 1574.
