SIR - It would seem that we have become a nation of gamblers so, why therefore, cannot the NHS run its own national lottery with all proceeds after prize money going directly to NHS?
After all the Republic of Ireland used to operate the Irish Sweep to fund its hospitals. The Irish Sweep was very popular in this country even though it was supposedly illegal here.
