A PENSIONER has died after being struck by a car as she tried to cross a road near her home.
Harriet McKean, 72, was crossing Whifflet Street in Coatbridge when she was hit by a Volkswagen Polo driven by a 21-year-old woman.
The pensioner, of Clunie Place, was taken by ambulance to Monklands hospital where she died a short time later. The car driver was unhurt Police have appealed for witnesses to the crash, which happened around 7.25 last night.
