ARMED police were called out in Aberdeen yesterday when a man believed

to be carrying a gun forced a driver out of his car and hijacked it

after being approached by police officers.

The police had gone to talk to two men who were seen acting

suspiciously in the Kittybrewster area of the city.

One of the two men then allegedly threatened the officers with a gun

before forcing 59-year-old lorry driver John Cumming out of his car and

driving away in it.

A Grampian Police spokesman said last night that two men were in

custody and that a report would be sent to the procurator-fiscal.
