June 25.

Douglas Lowe (Club Golf, June 15) had an interesting article on the

King James VI golf course in which it is claimed to be the only course

in the world situated on an island within a city boundary.

In 1941, on a brief leave in Cairo, I played a round of golf on the

Gezira Club course, which is on an island in the Nile in the middle of

Cairo.

At the same time rugby, cricket, tennis, and swimming were also going

on.
