THE identity of the finalists in the Scottish Women's Basketball Cup

will be known tonight when Beefeater Kool Kats face Royal High Dunedin

at Meadowbank in the second semi-final.

The teams met on league business at the weekend, with Dunedin winning

by nine points, 73-64, but their rivals from the capital city are

confident that they can turn the tables in the cup-tie.

Kool Kats had hoped that Scottish internationalist Nicky Emblem, who

helped the team to the league title last season but took up a sports

scholarship in the United States, would return to action in time to

spearhead her club's cup bid.

But she will not resume playing until after the cup final, which has

been switched from Meadowbank to Ainslie Park Leisure Centre, also in

Edinburgh, on March 27.

Livingston are already through to the cup final and are out for a

league-and-cup double.

* THE Scottish Basketball Association is hoping to host a reunion at

the final of one of the first Scottish international sides to go abroad.

In 1960 Scotland played France in a women's international in Vendin

and, of the 10 players who were involved, five have been traced.

The players who have not been traced -- C Freeman, M Convery, N

Burroughs, A Glen and I McCaw -- are all believed to be based in the

West of Scotland.

SBA technical officer Danny Kaye said: ''We have contacted the five

Edinburgh-based players and they are all delighted to attend.

''We would like to get the whole team together and, if anyone out

there was in the team, then they can contact me at the Scottish

Basketball Association (031-317-7260).''

* GLASGOW City Brightsiders face back-to-back matches with Edinburgh

Burger Kings which will determine how successful will be their season.

This weekend, they will welcome the Burger Kings for a league match,

while a week on Friday Brightsiders must head out east to Edinburgh to

face the same opposition in the semi-finals of the Scottish Cup.

* A TEAM from the US Navy base at Campbeltown is looking for

opposition for scrimmage matches and have made tentative enquiries about

joining the Strathclyde League.
