SCOTLAND'S Stuart Murray won a play-off yesterday to secure the last

card at the PGA European Seniors Tour Qualifying School at Collingtree

Park, Northampton.

After tying for eighth place on 153, the Hendon professional had to

return to the first tee with Mike Ingham (Cleckheaton) and Kenneth

Magnusson (Sweden). Killarney's Tony Coveney should have joined them,

but he could not be found.

The first was shared and, at the second, Murray hit what he thought

was a perfect drive, but it caught a bunker. He tried to hit a thin

No.6-iron shot to the green, but over-hit it and the ball finished

behind some low trees.

''It was a question of getting it up in the air and trying to land it

close to the pin,'' he said. ''The others were on the green and I was

looking for a half in 4.''

Murray's pitch hit the pin and stopped only a foot from the hole. Both

Ingham and Magnusson three-putted -- and Murray tapped in to secure the

card.

The top four places ensure entry to all 13 events and the other four

are effectively first reserves for tournaments which have restricted

fields.

Murray was the only Scot to obtain a card at the school, but George

Will is qualified in category one and there are several others in

category eight.

The qualifiers were led by Italy's Renato Campagnoli, who finished on
