PENSIONERS George Wardlaw, 78, and his wife Secelia, 77, who were found dead in the living room of the family home in Stirling Road, Larbert, on Tuesday night, may have died from carbon monoxide poisoning.

Central Scotland Police said yesterday that post-mortem examinations on both bodies had failed to reach a conclusion as to how the couple died, and confirmed that further tests will be carried out.

One strong line of enquiry, however, is that the couple may have died from carbon monoxide poisoning, and their domestic gas appliances are currently being examined.

A spokeswoman for the pollice, who said they were not treating the deaths as suspicious, said the couple were found shortly after 8pm, after their daughter, who lives in Manchester, telephoned the police to say she was worried about them.

Although she had not seen them for a long time, she was in contact with them most weeks. It had been three weeks, however, since she last heard from her parents.
