Oxford United have received permission from Charlton Athletic to play left back Tareiq Holmes-Dennis in Saturday’s FA Cup first-round tie at Grimsby Town.
The U’s have five players on loan, with four getting the thumbs-up to feature at Blundell Park.
Strikers Tyrone Barnett and Alex Jakubiak, as well as right back Joe Riley, had been given the green light prior to Saturday’s 2-1 defeat at home to Wycombe Wanderers.
Goalkeeper George Long is not permitted to play, and a question mark remained over Holmes-Dennis.
However, Charlton last night agreed the teenager could feature, giving U’s head coach Michael Appleton a welcome boost.
With Tom Newey on loan at Northampton Town, if Holmes-Dennis had not been given permission to play, United would not have had a recognised left back.
Danny Hylton misses the game after picking up his fifth booking of the season against Wycombe.
