Didcot Town boss Ian Concannon has told star striker John Mills he hasn’t got a chance of beating his record goals tally.

Mills has attracted interest from several clubs after a superb start to the season, which has seen him already score 21 times this campaign.

But Concannon, Didcot’s all-time leading goalscorer, admitted he has already joked with his striker that he will not break his record.

“I got 72 one season and then 67 in another,” Concannon said.

“I have already told him that he won’t get close to that.

“If he does, it’s simple, he’ll just have to go on the bench!”

Concannon added: “But seriously, John has been great this season, and to have 21 already is a great return.

“But he couldn’t have done it without the players doing their jobs behind him.”
