Gary Ackling is hoping last week’s emphatic 6-1 victory over Bashley can inspire Wantage Town.

Despite falling behind in the Division 1 South & West clash, Wantage hit back in style to claim a big victory.

“The bizarre thing was that we only really played at our maximum for 30-35 minutes, but we were so clinical,” Ackling said.

“When we went a goal behind I was about to get ready for the P45, but we did really well and it was a great result for us.

Wantage face an FA Trophy preliminary round tie at Tiverton Town tomorrow with Stuart Cattel back after four weeks in Australia.

Jack Smith (abductor) is out, while Adam Lovegrove (neck) is 50-50.

North Leigh boss Mark Gee is hoping his side’s dramatic midweek win over Didcot in the Red Insure Cup can work wonders ahead of a trip to Yate Town.

The Millers were 3-0 down, but hit back to take the game to extra time and penalties, when they won 4-2.

“It was a very, very strange game,” Gee said.

“It should have been all over just after half-time, but fair play to my lads who showed great character.”

Andy Gunn (ankle) and Matt Woodley (thigh) are struggling for tomorrow.
