Ardley United maintained their one-point lead at the top of the Uhlsport Hellenic League Premier Division with a 2-0 home win against Thame United yesterday.

The hosts absorbed strong Thame pressure before going ahead midway through the first half.

Jon Gardner chased a through ball before dinking it over the advancing Thame keeper Lee Farrow.

The hosts sealed victory in the second half when substitute Joe Eyre crossed for Troy Bryan to find the net with an acrobatic overhead kick.

Second-placed Wantage Town, who have a game in hand on Ardley, beat Reading Town 3-2, thanks to goals from Richie Claydon, Ben McCready and Tom Melledew.

McCready was later sent off for handball.

Although Steve Howe saved the resulting penalty, the rebound was tapped in.

But Wantage held on.

Letcome lost 4-0 at Tuffley Rovers in Division 1 West, Shayne Bradley (2), Junior Mbika and a Jack Hamblin own goal doing the damage.

Milton United won the Divison 1 East title with a 7-2 win at Woodley Town.
