Banbury United boss Edwin Stein thinks Wayne Blossom’s injury is not as serious as initially thought.

Blossom was stretchered off in the 1-0 defeat at home to Tamworth in the Birmingham Senior Cup on Tuesday night with a suspected broken leg.

But Stein was upbeat.

“We hope it is not as bad as we first feared,” he said.

“Wayne is an important member of our squad and his injury did take the gloss off the game.”

Stein was encouraged by Tuesday’s display, but angered by last week’s 4-3 Calor League Premier Division home defeat against AFC Totton.

“We scored after 15 or 17 seconds, but they levelled within a minute,” he said. “It’s not good enough.

“But we showed signs of turning it around the other night and I’m hoping we have got our mojo back.”

Banbury travel to Hitchin tomorrow, with Stein likely to give several youngsters the chance to impress.

Banbury Utd (v Hitchin, away): Fordah, Cray, Mullarkey, Isaac, Ryan, Pinto, Sufi, M Martin, Obeng, Evangelinos, Morgan, Bevis, Talabi, Tappin, Simpson, Isaac, Collins.
